The Weeknd To Make Donations Of Emergency Meals To Gaza

In recent news, it has been revealed that The Weeknd will be making donations of four million emergency meals to Gaza.

The means of these donations will be the XO Humanitarian Fund, which is a charity fund owned by the star himself.

Consequently, the United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) made an announcement saying that the singer, who is a WFP Goodwill Ambassador, has allocated some funds for this cause as well.

The Humanitarian Fund then disclosed that the total funds being sent to support Gaza are $2.5 million.

As per the organization, the musician, whose real name is Abel Tesfaye, will be funding the overall delivery of 820 metric tons of food.

This is roughly 1.8 million pounds worth of food parcels, which can feed over 173,000 Palestinians for at least 14 days.

According to the director of WFP for North Africa, Eastern Europe Region, and the Middle East, Corrine Fleischer, Gaza is in need of aid right away.

For this reason, the WFP has taken it upon itself to deal with the humanitarian catastrophe in its own way.

It has been working to scale up its donations to Palestinians and address the desperate level of hunger it sees.

Therefore, the donation from The Weeknd proved to be of significant help to the organization that is hoping for its teams to gain safe and sustained humanitarian access to the region.

The director thanked the star for making a valuable contribution in these difficult times and expressed gratitude to him for coming through.

Corrine ended her speech by appealing to the rest of the world, saying that she hopes they will all be as responsible as he is.

The Weeknd was appointed as a WFP Goodwill Ambassador in October of 2021. Since then, he has been an active supporter of the organization’s fight against world hunger.

He has aided in various hunger-relief missions as well by donating a sum of $1.8 million to the cause in personal donations.

The star has also made several donations through his XO Humanitarian Fund and managed to raise $5 million through it to date.

In other news, Cher is trying to find an actor to cast in the biopic on her life, but the process has been more difficult than she ever anticipated.

In a recent appearance on The Graham Norton Show, the music legend talked about her biopic, saying that she is unable to picture anyone in the role of her.

In her words, she has worked too hard and for too long to cast just anyone to be her in the biopic.

The 77-year-old further disclosed that she would be making her own music for the film, which could include a couple of old and maybe fresh songs.

However, she has not yet finished the script but is hopeful about what it would mean for her fans.

In the words of the star, the reason behind her wanting to make her own music is that she does not like imitation.

It was just recently that the musician revealed that she has once again started working on her memoir and will soon be releasing it for all to see.
