In recent news, Justin Timberlake expressed support for his former girlfriend. The singer took to social media to voice that he has her back, soon after she gave her statement at a conservatorship hearing held on Wednesday.
Timberlake openly called for an end to the abusive conservatorship that his ex is stuck in, since she broke down back in the year 2008. Britney appeared in the Superior Court of Los Angeles County through Zoom, to talk about the hold that her father has on her.
As the proceedings unfolded, she claimed that Jamie Spears, her father, as well as other conservators, prevented her from removing a contraceptive device that she has. Thus, they would not allow her to have children with Sam Asghari, her boyfriend.
Soon after hearing the statement she made, Timberlake took to the microblogging website, Twitter, and voiced his support for his ex-girlfriend, whom he dated between the years of 1999 and 2002.
He went on to add that after what Britney disclosed, the entire world should have her back. According to him, regardless of his past with his former partner, and no matter how long it has been, what she is going through is not fair. He claimed that no woman should be restricted when it comes to making decisions regarding her own body.
The popstar asserted that no one should hold a woman against her will and nor should she have to take permission to get access to anything that she worked hard to achieve. Ending his statement, he sent out love to Britney, saying that he and his wife, Jessica Biel, support her fully. He hoped that the courts and her family make everything right and let the singer live the way she wants.
Earlier in the year, a documentary was broadcasted by the name Framing Britney Spears. Timberlake, at the time, took to social media to issue an apology to his ex for the way he treated her soon after the two broke up in 2002. He stated that he regretted how he had created a fuss in the press, as well while not being able to handle their split gracefully.
The Toxic singer received support from various celebrities, who pledged their love in public on social media. These include Mariah Carey, Khloe Kardashian, Jameela Jamil, Brandy, Andy Cohen, Rosie O’Donnell, and Jesse Tyler Ferguson.
Halsey also took to Twitter to state that she was on Britney’s side. She said that she hopes with all her heart that the singer receives freedom and is able to walk away from the abusive system. In her words, she admires the courage shown by Britney and is in awe of her.
She further went on to call out people, saying that no individual or institution has the right to dictate what a woman does with her body. She added that no one has any right over the reproductive health of any woman.
