Liam Payne recently made an announcement calling off his engagement to Maya Henry.
Back in the year 2018, the couple was first rumored to be together. Shortly after the former One Direction singer separated from his ex, Cheryl, he popped the question to Maya. The two moved in together when the coronavirus first struck, and a lockdown was implemented.
However, in recent news, Liam confirmed that he and his former fiancé have now decided to go their separate ways. While talking to Steven Bartlett on his podcast named, Diary of CEO, the singer added that he needed space to work on himself and was starting to feel upset at the fact that he keeps on hurting the people he loves.
Giving insight into the matter further, the popstar added that he is disappointed in himself because he is unable to keep up with his relationships. He maintained that this has been bugging him for a while and he needs time away to work on his feelings and emotions.
According to Liam, he is now well-aware of the pattern that his relationships seem to be following. He acknowledged that he is not very good at relationships and needs to fix that before he can commit to anyone.
The former One Direction star went on to reveal that he is currently a happy single. He went on to express hope that he is able to learn from his previous romances.
The Strip That Down singer further claimed that this is exactly what happened in his last relationship. In his words, he did not feel like he was being the best version of himself.
He wished Maya Henry good luck for the future and added that he hopes she is happy. He believes that this breakup is the best thing that could happen for both of them right now.
Liam confirmed his engagement to May back in August of 2020. He currently shares a son with Cheryl, named Bear, who is three years old.
