Dr. Dre’s Wife Decides To End Their Marriage

Rap icon Dr. Dre and his wife have decided to split up after 24 years of marriage. Recently, Nicole Young filed for divorce. When questioned about it, she simply stated that they have irreconcilable differences and therefore, do not want to be with each other anymore. The couple got married back in May of 1996, and have two adult children together.

This was Nicole Young’s second marriage. She is the former wide of Sedale Threatt, an ex-basketball player. The rap icon’s representatives have said nothing related to the divorce news.

Dr. Dre is not only a rapper but a renowned entrepreneur as well. He initially rose to fame as a member of N.W.A, hip hop’s top trailblazing bands. This gave a boost to his rap career and led to him becoming a successful businessman in the music industry. He has started Beats Electronics and used to co-own Death Row Records as well.

Just weeks before Dr. Dre had voiced out his condolences to the family of George Floyd following his death. Once the video of Floyd being pinned to the ground by a police officer’s knee in Minneapolis went viral, the rapper did not hesitate to speak out.

He appeared on popular rapper, Lil Wayne’s radio show, the Young Money Radio Show, soon after the passing of George Floyd. The celebrated businessman said that when he saw the policeman kneeling on Floyd’s neck, he felt suffocated himself. He stated that the entire black community felt the pain that the African-American man felt shortly before he died. The former N.W.A member also talked about the police officers involved in the killing. He opened up about being disgusted by their insensitivity. He added that he was shocked at their brazenness in broad daylight in front of numerous witnesses.

The rapper also said that it was even more painful due to the fact that this has been going on for a long time. He complained that no one speaks out against it and no action is taken against racism or police brutality.

Dr. Dre also asked Lil Wayne what it would take to make all this stop. He asked his audience what could happen to ensure that black people are treated as equals. He went on to add that something big is happening now referring to the protests that have taken the world by storm. The entrepreneur added that the death of George Floyd has opened people’s eyes. He hoped that this would put them in a position to be respected in the society.

At the end of the interview, Dr. Dre also appreciated the efforts of white people who have joined the protests. He said he was thankful that they too were standing up against the injustice of the police and racism.
