Leigh-Anne Pinnock feels unburdened after speaking out against racism

Leigh-Anne Pinnock, a singer from Little Mix has declared that she feels unburdened after she spoke out against racism. The singer recently released an emotional video in which she raised her voice against the injustice in the country.
The 28-year-old discussed her experiences of being discriminated against. She is a member of the band that topped the charts and yet, she too experienced racism. She posted the video on Instagram this weekend and finally opened up about it all. On Tuesday, she spoke out about why she made the video and the response she had received after releasing it.
While interviewing for a British TV show called This Morning, the popstar said that she had also talked about her experiences with racism last year. But, the response had not been what she had expected. It felt to her that people did not care enough and weren’t listening.
Pinnock further added that this is the first time that the entire world is standing up against racism. Seeing all the support that the Black Lives Matter movement was getting, she felt overwhelmed. Thus, she decided to get rid of the burden and pain she had been carrying around for the past nine years. The singer said that she just wanted to relate to the people going through this hard time.
The Black Magic hitmaker received positive response to her video despite the fact that she was apprehensive about releasing it.
She explained that she felt like a weight had been lifted off of her. Pinnock was reached out by various others who had had similar experiences with racism as her. She also added that she had never had such conversations with people in the industry before. She realized that she was not alone.
The singer also shared that whenever she would try to talk about her experiences, people would shut her down. They would tell her that she was inly imagining all of this. She would further be told that nothing else mattered if her fans truly loved and supported her.
Pinnock also went into details about her team. She said that currently, there is only one mixed-race person working for her. Being part of a major band, she travels to many countries. The hitmaker said that she feels out of place whenever she is in predominantly white countries. She also included that she never felt like she truly belonged. The people closest to her were her friends and family and they were the only ones she ever opened up about the racism.

At the end of the interview, Pinnock added that not many people around her understood why she felt like she was being discriminated against and treated differently.
