JBL Charge 3 Waterproof Portable Bluetooth Speaker Review

There are many wireless Bluetooth speakers you can buy from the market, but three brands are very famous JBL, Bose, and Ultimate Ears. JBL is the only brand that comes with double backup batteries for USB-powered devices and phones.

Design:

We can say that JBL Charge 3 is a big speaker. Its 213 x 87 x 88.5 mm size will take up a fair space in your purse of backup, and its 1.76 pounds weight seems very reasonable considering its size. However, JBL charge 3 can be considered as a big speaker that comes with waterproofing and 20 hours of battery life.

The waterproofing is its new feature. It is IPX7 rated too, which means you can submerge the speaker into the water for 30 minutes. On the top of the speaker, you will find the buttons for Power On and Off, volume control, Bluetooth pairing, unique JBL connect button and play/pause/skip buttons. The unique JBL connect button allows you to connect with multiple speakers to increase the sound; it let you play 2 speakers as a radio pair.

JBL charge 3 features dual external radiators that will provide visual elements to your music; you can see the radiators vibrating with heavy bass soundtracks. The radiators are covered with a rubber guard around it that will allow you to put up the charge 3 vertically.

Performance & Features:

As we already mentioned, JBL charge 3 is a big speaker and physically will cover a fair size, the speaker can be cranked up and will have no issue to fill a large room. Outside, it can project sound fairly far but best experienced is within about 20 feet.

JBL charge 3 offers the deepest and most powerful bass we have heard from a Bluetooth speaker.  The base response works well on a flat surface, which can help resonate the sound, like a tabletop. You can keep it in a vertical position but we found it not a good impact sound, so it’s good to keep it in a horizontal position.

We experienced JBL charge 3 with a variety of genres of music and found it very impressive and how well it handles the sound. JBL 3 speaker plays loud music without any distortion. We were really impressed by the quantity of bass and quality of the speaker.

JBL Charge 3 comes with a built-in mic so you can use it as a speakerphone for meetings and conference calls. The mic quality is very clear and the listeners will never realize that you are talking to them through a speaker mic.

We Liked:

The quality of JBL charge 3 is excellent and the addition of waterproofing makes it unique and Bluetooth allows you to take it anywhere. The powerful batteries give 20 hours of life and you can use it as a power bank for your phones and other devices. You can use it in meetings and conference calls.

We Disliked:

JBL Charge 3 is a big speaker, it covers a fair space and not easy to put in your luggage easily while you are carrying some other stuff with you. But you can put it in your car if you are going for a picnic or party.

Easy to Rest:

Sometimes for any reason if your device has some setting issue or out of work, you can easily do a factory reset by just following these simple steps:

Power on the speaker.

Hold the Bluetooth pairing button and volume up (+) button at the same time for few seconds until the speaker powers off.

Power on the speaker and the LED will be blinking blue, it means that you successfully reset the speaker.

Go to the Bluetooth setting and pair it to the speaker as usual.

Final Verdict:

JBL charge 3 is far better than its previous version charge 2. JBL charge 2 has clearer highs but the addition of waterproofing in charge 3 is a great feature and users like it very much. If you don’t want waterproofing then Charge 2 is good for you.

JBL 3 comes with compelling sets of features with excellent sound quality. It plays well with loud playing and without any distortion.

Battery life is very good, it gives 20 hours and it can be used as a power bank, you can charge your phone and other devices. You can find input for charging under the flap on the back. We suggest you try to keep away from the water while you are charging your phone or any other device.
