Marilyn Manson Takes A Significant Blow In Defamation Case

In recent news, Marilyn Manson has suffered a significant legal blow, in lieu of his defamation case. This was against his former girlfriend, namely Evan Rachel Wood.

Back in February of 2021, the shock rocker was publicly accused by the Westworld actress of abuse. In her words, he had been physically and verbally abusive during the time the two had been dating, from 2007 to 2010.

The actress went on to provide further details of her suffering in Phoenix Rising, a documentary released in 2022.

However, upon hearing the claims, Manson was vehement that the allegations were false. He went on to file a defamation lawsuit against his former girlfriend.

Manson also included Evan Rachel Wood’s on-off girlfriend in the suit, namely Illma Gore. But she was not added to the legal case until March 2022.

The singer, whose real name is Brian Warner, went on to fight the case in court but suffered a significant blow.

This was because Teresa A. Beaudet, the Los Angeles Superior Court Judge presiding over his case, dismissed several important elements that were the foundation of his court case.

Manson had claimed that Gore and Wood had impersonated agents from the FBI and forged and distributed a fictitious letter to defame the musician. However, this allegation was thrown out.

The shock rocker had also accused the pair of creating a checklist of abuse and sending it to other women. But the judge did not find Gore and Wood guilty of this claim either.

Soon after this series of events, Wood’s lawyer, Michael Kump, released a statement about the good news. According to him, his client is quite happy with the ruling of the court.

He went on to add that the decision of the judge affirms and protects Wood’s fundamental First Amendment rights. In his words, the Plaintiff’s claims did not have any merit at all.

On the other hand, Howard King, attorney to Manson, said that he is planning on appealing the ruling of the court. He added that the judge’s decision was disappointing but expected.

In his words, the Court was quick to telegraph the outcome but did not consider the sworn testimony of Ashley Smithline, who described in detail how Gore and Wood would allegedly coerce women into making false claims about the shock rocker.

Back in 2021, when Wood first claimed that Brian Warner had abused her, various women stepped forward and made similar allegations.

However, Manson firmly denied all of them. But he also hired a lawyer to help him settle the lawsuits, get them dismissed, or dropped in the last year.

In other news, it has been revealed that Ed Sheeran will be performing at the 58th Academy of Country Music Awards.

The Bad Habits singer, who emerged victorious in a $100 million copyright lawsuit, is all set to take the stage in Frisco, Texas. The award ceremony will be held at the Ford Center, located at The Star.

It has also been announced that the two hosts for the evening will be Dolly Parton and Garth Brooks. There, Ed will be joining a star-studded line-up.

Other celebrities performing include Kane Brown, Cody Johnson, Jelly Roll, Morgan Wallen, and Keith Urban to name a few.
