Ed Sheeran Talks About His Eating Problems

In recent news, Ed Sheeran has candidly spoken out about his eating problems.

The Thinking Out Loud hitmaker opened up while attending an online summit on well-being in mid-2020 and talked about how he had just read Elton John's autobiography that year. The book was released the previous year, but the artist read it a year later, only to realize that he shared various habits with the music legend. This included purging and binge-eating behaviors.

Later on, the British singer brought up the issue while giving a cover interview for Rolling Stone Magazine. He said that he could not believe the traits he shared with Elton John, given how he would often eat too much and then throw up. In his words, he did not disclose this issue to anyone as he felt uncomfortable bringing it up with other people.

As a man, Sheeran added, it was tough to openly discuss this issue with people. He knew that he would be judged a certain way because of it. But while the musical legend openly talked about bulimia in his autobiography, the 32-year-old singer did not use the phrase.

According to Sheeran, he has had various continuous battles with his food intake, stating that he believes he has a food problem. He added that he tends to eat too much at times even now, but often works out.

The father-of-two went on to add that he sometimes feels fat, especially when compared to other male popstars in the field. These include One Direction, Shawn Mendes, as well as Justin Bieber.

In the words of the popstar, he was already self-conscious about how he looked from a young age, but he had entered an industry where he was being compared with the others repeatedly. He explained that he was often asked questions like why he does not have a six-pack and why he mostly only eats kebabs.

In other news, Ed Sheeran has also spoken up about never wanting to touch drugs again. He has stated that he will never be indulging in any intoxicants because he thinks it will be disrespectful toward his now-deceased friend, Jamal Edwards.

The SB.TV Founder and DJ passed away last year in February, at the young age of 31. He had been diagnosed with cardiac arrhythmia due to high cocaine use. When he died, Sheeran revealed that it had made him more adamant about staying away from various substances.

In his words, he would never touch another substance ever again due to how Jamal passed away. He added that he thinks it is disrespectful to his friend’s memory. The 32-year-old discussed in his Rolling Stone interview that he had indulged in several substances back when he had been in his party boy phase.

However, when asked to name the substances, he declined to do so on account of his children. Sheeran has decided to keep his distance from drugs. He has also cut down on his consumption of alcohol and only drinks beer and wine in moderation.
