Late last year, Playboi Carti was taken in by the authorities soon after he was accused of felony aggravated assault.
The rapper, whose real name is Jordan Carter, was arrested from his residence in Georgia. The incident occurred in December when the authorities arrived at the scene and were informed that he had allegedly choked his pregnant girlfriend. It was reported that the cause of the dispute and scuffle had been a paternity test.
As per the arrest affidavit, the anonymous woman had told the responding police officers that Carti and her had been having a conversation related to him taking the paternity test. However, she explained that it soon became an argument and he got aggressive. Eventually, he entered into a physical altercation with her.
According to the woman who reported the assault, she ran to her vehicle when the fight became physical. But she was dragged out of her car by the 26-year-old rapper. With only a second in between, the alleged victim took the opportunity to use the SOS feature of her car and inform the police.
Later on, when cops arrived at the scene, they stated that they saw various injuries to the woman’s neck, back, and chest. After the arrest, the woman told the officers that she had been seeing carter for over two years and was 14 weeks into her pregnancy.
Despite the detailed assault given by the unnamed woman, Brian Steel, Carti’s attorney, is insistent that his client has been falsely accused. He gave a statement in which he said that his communications with the Fulton County District Attorney’s office have been in his favor. Thus, he believes that the case will soon be dismissed without any litigation or prosecution.
The Magnolia rapper was formerly in a relationship with Blac Chyna and Iggy Azalea. He also shares a two-year-old son with the latter, who has reacted to the news of his arrest on felony assault charges.
She took to the micro-blogging website, Twitter, to hint that she too has suffered assault at the hands of the rapper. In her words, she had ‘warned’ that something like this would happen. The Fancy rapper also took to tweeting that Carti ignored his pregnant girlfriend until the news of him abusing her went public.
Iggy also accused the 26-year-old rapper of only visiting his son when he was running away from his serial abuse of women. In her words, shortly after the news of Carti’s abuse broke out in Atlanta, he decided to visit his son, Onyx, who is recently turned three.
Later on, Iggy also clapped back at a Twitter user making victim-blaming comments. She told the user that they were saying disgusting things for clout and that they should seek professional help. According to her, there is something wrong with their train of thought, for which they need to speak to a therapist.
Eventually, the Twitter user responded and told the 32-year-old rapper to go see a therapist herself. To this, she revealed that she has one, which allows her to see what the user is commenting is deeply flawed.
She went on to add that it is not up to someone to avoid abuse because there is no way of knowing when it will happen.
