IDLES Scheduled For A Matinee Slot At London’s New Festival

Wide Awake, the new music festival in South London, will feature IDLES, which is scheduled for a matinee slot. The inaugural event will take place on September 3rd at Brockwell Park and festival goers will be able to enjoy a special afternoon set at around 1.30pm by Joe Talbot and co. They introduced their third studio album last year in September titled ‘Ultra Mono’. The festival is climate change-conscious and there are a number of others on the lineup as well.

These include Scalping Goat Girl, Tina PVA, Self Esteem, Shame, Daniel Avery, New Road, Black Country, black midi, Lazarus Kane, The Murder Capital, Erol Alkan, Tinariwen, Kokoroko, Ivan Smagghe, Crows, Lena Willikens, Crack Cloud, Boy Harsher, Porridge Radio, Minimal Violence, A Certain Ratio, The Mauskovic Dance Band, Los Bitchos, Debonair, Squid, Dream Wife, Shame and many more.

Wide Awake also issued a press release about their efforts to have a festival that’s environmentally friendly. It said that they were already planning to leave absolutely no traces of litter and were not going to use landfill sites for burying waste. They added that single-use plastic was also banned and only compostable cutlery and packaging would be allowed on site. Plus, they would also use biodegradable stage effects and would recycle back of house waste. It added that this was just the beginning as Wide Awake was planning on making a number of other changes in the next three years.

Field Day’s co-founders, SC&P, LNZRT, Dimensions, and Bad Vibrations are running the festival, along with the creators of some of the most iconic and small music venues in London, such as Peckham Audio, The Waiting Room, The Shacklewell Arms, and MOTH Club. Other details are available on their website.
