Demi Lovato Reveals Details of the Night She Overdosed

In recent news, Demi Lovato has alleged that her drug dealer sexually assaulted her on the night she was rushed to the hospital due to her near-fatal overdose.

Back in July of 2018, the 28-year-old star was taken to the hospital under alarming circumstances. She had almost died because of a drug overdose, which led to her suffering organ failure, a heart attack, and three strokes.

The singer is now releasing her new YouTube Originals documentary series by the name ‘Dancing with the Devil’. In it, she talks about her journey back to health and the ordeal that almost cost her her life.

The series premiered on Tuesday at the SXSW Online Festival, in which she claimed that the man whom she purchased heroin from on the night of her near-death experience, is the same person who sexually abused her.

Demi recalled that while she was recovering from her overdose, the doctors questioned whether or not she had had consensual intercourse on the night she almost died.

The hitmaker went on to add that she remembered the man lying on top of her so, she had said yes at the time. However, a month later, she had realized that she had not been in a state of mind that night to express consent. Demi added that that kind of trauma does not fade away overnight.

On the subject of being sexually assaulted, she also talked about how she was raped at the age of 15. According to her, she was in a similar situation when she was a teenager. Thus, she lost her virginity in a rape.

At the time, the 28-year-old admitted, she and the unnamed actor had been ‘hooking up’ from time to time, she had not been ready to go all the way.

She recalled being a part of that particular Disney crowd that said that they will wait until marriage for this first time. Unfortunately for the pop star, she was unable to have a romantic first time.

Therefore, she said, she could not cope with seeing her rapist all the time so she coped up in other ways. Demi further revealed that she stopped eating at the time.

The singer opened up about how she told adults what had happened back when she was 15 but, the person responsible was never held accountable. This only made her angry and she called him a month later after the incident occurred. The Stone Cold star remembered that she felt even ‘worse’ after making the call.

Demi admitted that both these incidents were nothing more than textbook re-enactments of trauma, which caused her to beat herself up for years after. She added that it was quite difficult for her to come to terms with the fact that she had been raped.
