Selena Gomez’s Interview about Her Cover for Allure’s October Issue

Actor, singer, songwriter, producer, and now an entrepreneur, Selena Gomez was born in Grand Prairie, Texas, on 22ndof July, 1992. Her parents are Ricardo Joel Gomez and Mandy Teefey. Starting her career as a child star in PBS’s children series Barney & Friends in 2002, Selena Gomez has been pushing her limits ever since. She has not constrained herself to just acting, but she is also a globally renowned singer with three chart-topping albums. She is also the producer of the novel-based teen drama web television series 13 Reasons Why.

During an interview with Allure, the American women’s beauty magazine, for their October issue, the singer talked about being diagnosed with Bipolar Disorder, her album Revival demanded her to seem more adult, and her new beauty product line Rare.

Selena first disclosed that she was diagnosed with Bipolar Disorder back in April during an Instagram live with fellow singer artist Miley Cyrus. In the interview, the singer said she was quite content with the diagnosis, saying that it was actually helpful as it helped her to get to know more about her anxiety and depression. Gomez has been vocal about her depression and anxiety several times. In order to maintain a healthy mindset, the singer has also limited her time on social media platforms. One prominent reason for her distorted mental health conditions is said to be her on-and-off relationship with ex Justin Bieber.

She further went on to talk about how her second studio album Revival made her feel pressured that she needed to be more of an adult. Gomez said that she had to wear more revealing clothes and that was not really her. The album was debuted at the same time when she was diagnosed with lupus disorder and dealing with medical problems which caused her to fluctuate in weight, for which she was extremely criticized; it was just unfair for anyone to handle, said the pop star. She further told Allure it was the same period when she underwent a surgery featuring a kidney transplant, high blood pressure, and later a second operation since the first didn’t come out all well.

Talking about her newly founded beauty line Rare Beauty, Selena said that she always wanted the name Rare and that this word has now become the distinctiveness of her brand and of what she wants to be. Through this name, she wants to tell people and make sure that they understand that being different and diverse, whatever happens, they are included. In an interview seven days ago, Selena had said that she was flabbergasted over how young girls were made to make sure that they look a certain way. This is what she wanted to mold with her new beauty product line.
