Andreas Vollenweider Returning with a New Album


Swiss Harpist Andreas Vollenweider had made the harp one of the coolest instruments as much as he could in the 80s, an era that was about Heavy Metal Pop and New Wave. But, he did succeed it his goal of doing so. Ultimately, the first four albums that he had launched were just a lead-up to his exceptional break-out classic released in 1986 and titled ‘Down to The Moon’. In 1987, Down to the Moon had been awarded a Grammy for Best New Age Album. He had followed up this album with another one in 1989, an instrumental classic titled Dancing With The Lion. 

Overall, Andreas Vollenweider had introduced 14 sets. The last one called AIR was released in 2009. On May 22, 2020, Andrew Vollenweider had decided to introduce his first studio album in 12 years titled Quiet Place. The album was to be released on CDD, on vinyl LP and DD. However, Quiet Place has also been delayed, like many more other albums that were to be released in spring of 2020. This is due to the Coronavirus pandemic that has gripped the entire world. Stars like Lady Gaga and others opted to push back the release of their respective albums.

Andreas Vollenweider had chosen to embark on this new adventure of a new album after successfully creating music for 40 years. This great adventure was inspired by his self-written novel of the same name. The album boasts contemplate and quiet music, which is touching yet subtle, dynamic yet powerful. Categorized as a new-age musician, Andreas is known for using a modified electroacoustic harp that he made himself. He has had collaborations with several renowned names including Luciano Pavarotti, Carly Simon and Bobby McFerrin. 

His career that spans four decades comprises a number of international tours and fourteen regular albums. Quiet Places would be his first studio album and is highly anticipated by his fans. It has been given a release date of October 2nd, 2020. There are total 10 tracks in the album, which are outlined below:

Andreas Vollenweider’s music has been described as atmospheric music that evokes magic, nature and fairy tales. He has combined elements of European folk and classical music, which gives a very interesting effect.
