One Direction star Liam Payne and his singer girlfriend Cheryl became proud parents of a baby boy on 22nd March, 2017. The couple didn’t name the baby right away as they said they wanted to get to know him first. On May 1st, Monday, reports surfaced stating that the newborn had been given the name Bear Payne. The new daddy took to Twitter to confirm that this was indeed the wild moniker he had chosen for his baby boy.
Bear Grylls, TV adventurer and namesake of Liam’s son, didn’t waste any time in reaching out to the couple on Twitter and congratulating them for choosing the given name, along with sending blessings on the parents and the kid. His post received a warm and positive response from Liam in which he confirmed that he had indeed named his son Bear. The 23-year-old told the TV adventurer that he hoped his son would have even an ounce of courage that Bear has.
Nonetheless, sources have revealed that Cheryl and Liam had been considering names before the birth of their son, but Bear hadn’t been on that list. An insider revealed that the couple had wanted to know their baby first and had been thinking of a name since they met. They finally settled on Bear as they believed it suited the baby. The source added that the parents were desperately in love with their child and were immensely happy at becoming first time parents together.
It is not the first time that this unusual name has been adopted by celebrity parents. In 2013, actress Kate Winslet welcomed a baby boy with her husband, Ned Rocknroll, and they named him Bear Blaze. In addition, Alicia Silverstone, the Clueless star, has a son named Bear Blue, who will be turning six on Friday, May 5th.
