Ed Sheeran Is Sure To Beat Adele For The Trophy at BMI London Awards

Ed Sheeran is sure he will give Adele a tough time at the BMI London Awards as he competes with her for a gong in the category of "Song of the year".

Adele is nominated for her “Hello” that was released last year and is infamous as her comeback song. The 28-year-old English singer says she is delighted to hear that her single was chosen as one of the ten-track shortlisted for an important category.

On the other hand, the Red-hair Ed Sheeran has scored two nominees, one for "Photograph" and another for “Thinking out loud". The British singer wrote these songs in the collaboration of Johnny McDaid who is already famous for his Snow Patrol.

BMI Awards is the presentation of the music rights co. that aims to recognize singers and publishers from the United Kingdom and all countries across Europe. In addition, these awards are designed to appreciate both European and English singers who have performed tracks on television and radio in the U.S last year.

Besides the award battle between Ed and Adele, there are some more interesting nominations where a number of celebrities will fight each other to get the prize. Ellie Goulding is also there to struggle for her "On my mind", while Karen has received the nomination in the same category for "Lean on". In addition to the aforementioned singers nominated for the gong, George Ezra is sure his "Budapest" will get him the praiseworthy prize.

BMI will see another tough competition when it comes to choose the best among all talented songwriters from both Europe and the U.K.  Some of the most popular songwriters that will be battling for the gong are as following:

  • Brett Eldredge and co-writers for "Lose my mind"
  • Fall Out Boy for "Uma Thurman"
  • Nicki Minaj and Bebe Rexhaare with 6 other co-writers for "Hey Mama"

"Hey Mama' is a song of David Guetta. It was written by eight songwriters together while Bebe and Minaj appeared on its video as well. Moreover, the songwriter of “One last time" by Ariana Grande has been shortlisted. Sam Smith was the winner of "Song of the year" last year who named this award for showcasing his talent in "Stay with me". In 2014, Daft Punk photographed with holding the winning trophy for his “Get Lucky".

Dorchester Hotel of London is the venue of this year's BMI London Awards.  Taking place on October 10, 2016, the ceremony will also honor Sting with the BMI Icon Award. Sting is a former Police front-man who the BMI management considers as a symbol in the genuine sense of the word.

According to Brandon Bakshi, an important part of the company, Sting's musical catalogue has had a huge impact on music lovers from around the globe across multiple generations. The company is extremely proud and honored to name Sting as its BMI Icon which not only recognizes his efforts as a songwriter but also appreciates his contributions in other fields. Not to mention, Sting has been infamous as a music composer, actor, writer, activist and gentleman.
