Stereophonics on their Way to their Seventh Number 1 Album



The race for the UK number 1 album spot for this week is on and it is being led by Stereophonics. The eleventh studio album of the Welsh Group, Kind, is leading an all-new Official Chart Update Top 5. They are also ahead in terms of chart sales as the difference is a significant 14,000. The most digital downloads and physical sales have been scored by Kind across the weekend and it is on its way to becoming the seventh UK Number 1 album for the band. 

Midweek, the Number 2 spot is taken up by Rick Astley, thanks to his greatest new collection called The Best of Me. The Number 3 spot is taken up by Once Upon a Mind by James Blunt, which is on its way to becoming the singer’s highest charting album in the last six years. Jesus is King, the eighth LP by Kanye West that was released digitally on Friday is also on course to take the Number 4 spot in terms of digital streams and downloads only. It is ahead of the Number 5 song called Pony, which is the major label debut from Rex Orange County, the Hampshire indie pop singer. 

The Number 9th position is taken up by Western Stars: Songs from The Film by Bruce Springsteen. This is a collection of reworked songs from Western Stars, the singer’s 12th UK Number 1 album, which is appearing in a new documentary film. At Number 10, right behind Bruce’s album is retrospective Black Gold by Editors’, which is on its way to becoming the seventh consecutive Top 10 Album for them. Some of the Top 20 entries include Colorado by Crazy Horse and Neil Young, which is on the Number 14 spot. The Number 15 spot belongs to Volume 11 and 12 by Desert Sessions, the Number 16 belongs to All Aboard the Skylark by Hawkind and the Number 19 spot is taken up by Cigarette After Sex’s Cry. 

As far as the Number 18 spot is concerned, the self-titled debut by AJ Tracey is also going back to the Top 20 after the release of its deluxe edition. As far as Top 40 places are concerned, True Love: A Celebration of Cole Porter by Harry Connick Jr, Airbourne’s Boneshaker, Ride Again, the new EP from Shakespears Sister and Bay City Rollers’ Gold will take the Number 24, 25, 27 and 34, respectively.
