Exclusive interview with Rachel Jaymes

Who are some of your musical influences?

I love the abstract meanings embedded in almost every song I listen too, no matter how big or small it is. It is so difficult picking and choosing out of the many many artists I love because they have all influenced in me in one way or another. Melanie Martinez showed me I don't have to be literal to get to the point. Hall and Oates has influenced me and my childhood and how I perceive and look at my life. Artists like Bazzi, Ariana Grande, Billie Eilish, Demi Lovato and Halsey have all taught me how to love and deal with loss in all very different and unique ways that all can apply to me.

If you could Collaborate with any artist who would you choose?

If I could collaborate with any artist, I would have to say Hall and Oates or Demi Lovato.

“Light up the Night” what’s the song really mean to you?

To me the song means love, friends and family. No matter where we go our love and happiness is so bright and evident that it lights up the night. I have noticed that when I am not out socializing with my friends or family, my happiness level drops and I guess you can say my feelings dull, but when we are all together I can be sharpened up again and be the best and happiest self that I can be.

What do you hope people take from your music when listening?

I hope that they can connect and relate to the words and/or meaning of the song/s. I personally know from experience that not every feeling is portrayed in the way one would want it and I have felt that before, and so I want to write music that expresses all lengths of emotion so others can relate and feel something from my music.

Any new music updates you like to share?

At the moment I am working on concepts and themes for new possible songs.
