Exclusive Interview With Rhett Repko

Who are some of your musical influences?

I have many many musical influences. Some include modern artists such as The 1975, twenty one pilots & Taylor Swift. Others are artists from previous decades like Madonna, Nirvana, and Michael Jackson. I really like to mix it up in case you couldn’t tell haha.

How do you think you and your music have been influenced by your hometown?

I’m not too sure really. I definitely enjoy Annapolis and it’s an awesome city with a great downtown. But I would have to say most of my music is influenced by my emotions and experiences that I go through, especially relating to relationships with other people around me whether they’re romantic, platonic, or something unique.

“A broken Song" what's the song really mean to you?

“A Broken Song” for me is a song that was written and made to be listened to for whenever I am sad. No matter what kind of sadness that is, whether it’s heartbreak or something unique such as a specific moment I’m struggling with. It doesn’t matter how long or short the sadness is. I can always relate to the lyrics, especially the first line: “I think that my heart needs a broken song, something with words that I’ve known all along”. I need a broken song because in that moment I am broken, and the song helps heal me.
What do you hope people take from your music when listening?

I just hope that they enjoy the music and they can benefit from it one way or another. Music means something slightly different to everyone. So I hope people use it for whatever they need whether that’s straight up enjoyment, or something more therapeutic.

Any new music updates you like to share?

I have a new EP called “Songs of the Night” coming out February 5th. It will have 5 new songs and I am super excited to have people hear it finally! I spent a lot of time in Nashville with Chris Grainger producing it and I think it will have something new for fans to dig into. It will also definitely have elements of my previous music that I think fans will be able to recognize and enjoy. It was mastered by multi-grammy award winning Chris Gehringer who’s mastered some of my favorite artists (The 1975, twenty one pilots, 5 Seconds of Summer). So that’s super exciting for me as well. Thanks so much for having me on Migrate Music News! Definitely follow me on the socials @rhettrepko for more updates on my music in the future.
