Sleater-Kinney Is Back in Action

Sunday evening was the terrific night for musical presentation when Sleater-Kinney gave a hip-hop return with their live performance at the Knitting Factory in Spokane, WA.

The American rock band is back to be live on stage in nine years. A long era starting from 1994 to 2006 was the time when all members of the band stayed in a united form and were applauded by the music lovers together but later in 2006, they announced an imprecise pause.

In a meanwhile, all members had gone on their own ways. The guitarist and vocalist Carrie Brownstein came up with Wild Flag and started working on her promising acting career with films and the series Portlandia while the drummist Janet Weiss stayed awhile with Stephen Malkmus and the Jicks, and released a solo album on a later stage. Another guitarist and vocalist of the band, Corin Tucker also made efforts to release a solo act.

The band was together for their new album recording last year. Their joint venture 'No Cities To Love' was opened to the market on January 20. It was yet interesting to see Sleater-Kinney live on the concert stage for the first time in a pretty long period of nine years. The musical evening saw them performing on eight of the albums ten songs yet audiences felt the need of their skipped songs like  'Hey Darling' and 'Fade'.

The overall performances were amazing; however, they designed a different set for the show ignoring their early career at most.  The band chose four tracks each from Dig Me Out (1997) and The Woods (2005) and did only one song from the follow-up, Call the Doctor. Most of their fans are of the opinion that Sleater-Kinney shouldn't totally have skipped their debut album at the same time as their return to the stage.
