There is a big surprise for anyone who was listening to Gorillzas nearly a decade ago, they are releasing new songs that are not from their latest album Humanz. This band was unique, the most unique thing being that the band was only virtual. The best thing is that this band really was virtual as the virtual characters of the band do not exist in reality.
The band has come up with a new album in 2017 called Humanz. The album was released by the band after a disappearance of 10 years. Their last album had come out in 2010, namely The Fall, after which it was rumored that the band was not going to make any music any more. The rumors proved to be true and the band really stopped making music after 2010.
Keep in mind that the band was created by two persons, Jamie Hewlett and Damon Albarn. According to Albarn, the band stopped making music because Hewlett thought that the animations he created were not relevant to the band’s performances anymore.
Humanz was an amazing album with 20 tracks on it. There were a lot of collaborations with many artists. Artists that Gorillaz collaborated with on the album included Pusha T, Danny Brown, DRAM, Vince Staples, Grace Jones, Kelela, Benjamin Clementine, Kali Uchis, Popcaan and Anthony Hamilton.
The quality of the album was great as most reviewing websites gave it 4 to 5 stars. There was a mixed response from the listeners as many thought that the band was not producing the type of music it used to when they stopped making music in 2010.
However, the new track from the band called Sleeping Powder has come a huge surprise for the fans. The song Sleeping Powder was a surprise because it suddenly made to people’s ears through the band’s mobile application. The song said that it was made by a new band member called 2-D.
When the track starts it seems that a kid is playing on a piano with effects. However, the song jumps fast into a funky beat with pauses in the beginning. As the song proceeds it gets more and more intense. The song was released just recently on June 08, 2017. Within first few hours of the song’s YouTube video upload, it had already received 1 million views.
The new band member, called 2-D, has been a center of attraction for the listeners. This blue haired guy is wearing his jeans quite high on his waist. He has a black t-shirt on and his eyebrows are quick thick and black.
Throughout the video this new band member is dancing all of the funny moves that are as addictive to watch as they are funny. The song has received much love from its listeners. Many have said that Gorillaz are truly back with this song as they thought many songs on Humanz were not on-par with the quality of songs Gorillaz used to produce before.
The track is amazing and will definitely remind old Gorillaz listeners of the times when they used to hear them more than 10 years ago.
