British singer Ed Sheeran denied that he is engaged to Cherry Seaborn, his girlfriend. His friend Russel Crowe referred to her as Ed’s fiancée and that had the rumor mill going. Earlier this month, the Gladiator star was giving an interview on Fitzy and Wippa, the Australian radio show. That’s when he discussed his unlikely friendship with Ed and referred to Cherry as the singer’s fiancée. This sparked speculation that the Russell Crowe had accidentally revealed the news of Ed’s engagement.
However, during an interview he was giving in Brazil where he is currently touring, Ed Sheeran set the record straight. He insisted that he hadn’t proposed to Cherry as yet and their relationship status had simply been misunderstood by Russell. Ed explained that Crowe had emailed him to apologize. Fitzy and Wippa also aired the clip of this interview during their show on Tuesday, 30th May. Ed clarified that Russell had only met Cherry once and he hadn’t introduced her. Russell had made an assumption, but it wasn’t true.
When Russell gave his interview, he explained that Ed had been on his tour in the Down Under and had come to reside with him at his coastal property in New South Wales. He said that the Shape of You singer had gotten a bit burned out. Therefore, he had become a house guest at his farm and gotten some sleep during which time they had become conversational friends. Russell added that Ed had gone to the farm subsequently with his fiancée.
The 26-year-old began dating Cherry in 2015, whom he had known since school. Since then, the hockey player has moved in with him and they have also bought cats. While promoting his latest album Divide, Ed said that he felt comfortable with the idea of spending his life with Cherry and the prospect of fatherhood pleased him, but he wants to wait until his touring days are behind him. Currently, Ed is on a world tour and has reached its South American leg. He is scheduled to play the Esplanada Do Mineirao on Tuesday in Bela Horizonte, Brazil.
