President Obama Speaks at SXSW Music

After visiting Torchy Tacos in Austin, where he ordered a Democrat as well as an Independent and Republican from the menu, President Barack Obama took the stage of Dell Hall on Friday at the Long Center. He is the first ever sitting president to ever come onto the stage of a SXSW event and received a standing ovation. In a conversation with Texas Tribune’s Editor-in-Chief Evan Smith, the President spoke to the SXSW audience as well as the tech industry as a whole. He requested them to work in conjunction with the United States government for solving the biggest problems of the country.

He said that focusing on the next big thing wasn’t enough as they had to focus on harnessing it to use it in a better way for the nation and its people. He also reminded that audience of his 2008 campaign, which had the slogan of ‘Yes We Can’ rather than ‘Yes I Can’. He encouraged the listeners all over the country and also the attendees to make an impact in their own regions and communities.
