Justin Bieber Scores Big Victory at Kids Choice Awards

Justin Bieber, Fifth Harmony and Ariana Grande were among the big winners on Saturday, 12th March at the Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards 2016. Grande was given the honor of Favorite Female Singer while the Canadian star took home the Favorite Male Singer award. As far as the former X Factor girl band is concerned, they were winners of the Favorite Group category at the ceremony. The group later posted on Instagram and thanked their fans who had voted for them at the KCA along with a photo of them covered in slime.

The title of Favorite Song of the Year was taken by Adele’s Hello, the smash hit that had broken records when it was released the previous year. The award show was hosted by The Voice’s judge and country star Blake Shelton. However, his role didn’t stop him from being covered in slime. Along with Fuller House star John Stamos, Josh Gad and Jason Sudeikis, Blake was coated in slime at the show at The Forum in Inglewood, California. The Favorite Animated Movie award was nabbed by Adam Sandler’s Hotel Transylvania 2 while the Favorite Movie title was taken by Star Wars: The Force Awakens.

The top acting award was taken by Will Ferrell for his role in the comedy Daddy’s Home while the Favorite Movie Actress award was taken by Jennifer Lawrence for her powerful portrayal and performance as Katniss in The Hunger Games movie series. The gong for Favorite Voice from an Animated Movie was taken by Amy Poehler for her role as Joy in Inside Out by Pixar and Zendaya expressed her gratitude towards all American parents who had allowed her to be a role model for their kids. When she accepted her award for Favorite Female TV Star in a kid’s show, she said that she didn’t take this role for granted.

As far as hosting is concerned, Blake did a wonderful job, even though his fellow judge in The Voice and his new girlfriend, Gwen Stefani couldn’t be there to show her support as she was in Japan for some work commitments. Instead, in order to support her beau, Gwen sent her sons Apollo and Zuma to the ceremony. She tweeted a picture of seven-year-old Zuma on the orange carpet with his friends while Apollo, her youngest son, could be seen talking to his mother on the phone in the audience as she was having trouble streaming the show live in Tokyo.

During the award ceremony, Chris Evans and Robert Downey Jr. also took the stage for previewing a new trailer of their upcoming superhero movie, Captain America: Civil War. Due for a release on May 16th, the Marvel movie focuses on the feud between Iron Man (Downey Jr.) and Captain America (Evans). Onstage, the pair joked about ending their battle and also engaged in a thumb war for a cheering audience. This battle ended in a draw, which means we will have to wait and see the movie to know who wins. The movie also stars Scarlett Johansson.
